Returning to My Ancestral Land: Lessons from Nomadic Life

Returning to My Ancestral Land: Lessons from Nomadic Life

Two years ago, I traveled to Zavkhan Province, in the deep western part of Mongolia—the land of my ancestors—to shoot my very first video. It’s incredible how quickly time has flown; already two years have passed.

Wherever we live on Earth, all 8 billion of us are connected. Humans are an inseparable part of this world. The stars and the sun in the vast universe shine with varying warmth and brightness, sending energy to our planet. We receive this warmth and light, feeling happiness and joy in our daily lives.

Today, I returned to my ancestral land with a simple purpose: to listen to the wisdom and teachings of ordinary nomads and herders. Nomadic herding has endured for hundreds, even thousands, of years, and it continues into the 21st century. This way of life is not only a vital part of Mongolian culture but also a precious legacy for all humanity.

No matter where you live on the planet, these lessons and traditions are something everyone should know. The simplicity, resilience, and deep connection to nature that nomadic life teaches us are timeless.

Visiting Zavkhan reminds me that some of the most profound knowledge doesn’t come from books or cities—but from the land itself and the people who live in harmony with it.
